Wendell Phillips papers [manuscript], 1857-1865.

In these letters Phillips describes some of his travels, introduces C.F. Hudson to the Rev. Nathaniel Frothingham, reports that he is acting as George Thompson's secretary, congratulates W.A. Wheeler on his recent book (Dictionary of the Noted Names of Fiction), criticizes Epes Sargent for omitting important figures from an edition of "The standard speaker," and discusses arrangements for a speaking engagement. A photographic portrait of Wendell Phillips is included and a small engraving of Phillips is pasted on one of the letters.

Wendell Phillips (born November 29, 1811, Boston, Massachusetts – died February 2, 1884, Boston, Massachusetts), orator and reformer, was one of the leaders of the abolitionist movement in Boston, Massachusetts, wrote frequently for William Lloyd Garrison's Liberator, and eventually became president of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
